One of the most daunting things about teaching online is setting up your online classroom. You have to set up the lighting, buy props, make sure the camera is at the right angle, and find a suitable headset. It can be expensive and overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Here is what I’ve learned about setting up a cheap, organized online classroom.
Whiteboards are your best friends. They are the most versatile prop you can buy. You can use them to teach students how to read, draw a concept your students don’t understand, write a sentence such as “I don’t ____ running,” and get them to fill in the blank, and even play Pictionary.
Natural lighting is best, but if this isn’t at your disposal, you can use... [Read more]

In this episode, we cover the pronunciation of the word firebrand. This word has two different meanings. The first meaning is quite literal and describes burning wood. One emerging field of work is teaching business English. When teaching business English, there are both pros and cons. To mention a couple in each category; one pro is the vast knowledge of information students will hold in their particular field. Another pro is that typically business English students are adults so behavioral issues will be less common. One con that is that since you are teaching in a workplace students may become unavailable when issues arise or if the company schedules them for meetings during the time allotted for training. Another con is that not everyone’s job inside a company is the same; therefore, what may be a priority learning point for some will not be for others.

We are living in a digital era, where technology is starting to become a very prominent existence in our world. It is something that surrounds us daily. With that being said, it is very hard to get away from technology. The only place you would get away from it would be school, but even then, it is starting to get more difficult. I see more and more technology being used in school nowadays. I feel that if we bring technology into the classroom in a safe manner, it will be very beneficial for the students. It will help them learn in ways we would not have been able to in the past while having fun.

If you’re anything like me the thought of teaching online can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. One of the first thoughts that I had when I thought of myself becoming an online teacher was, what do I need to have to ensure that my students are learning efficiently and effectively? At first, this question was difficult for me to answer because I knew to teach online was vastly different from having a classroom. This led me to do some research and become a little creative to determine what materials I could use to teach English online.

⏩ Tefl reviews - Lesson Planning Dos And Don Ts - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT
Lesson planning is an important part of being a teacher. While experienced teachers may appear to not require a plan it is only because they have probably taught a lesson so many times that the majority of their plan is in their head. They will still have a good idea of how they want and expect the lesson to proceed. Inexperienced teachers will need the structure a good lesson plan provides. A good plan acts as a guide to your planning. It helps a teacher consider the direction of the lesson and possible pitfalls and diversions. It also helps a teacher keep on track during the lesson but should not be so restrictive that it prevents flexibility in class. A lesson plan also serves as a record of what you have taught before enabling you to easily see what to review at later dates... [Read more]

In an era where technology is prevalent and has become a big part of our culture, it is beneficial to incorporate it in the classroom. Technology in the Education system is one of the greatest changes we have witnessed over the years. The paradigm has shifted immensely to a point where we no longer must sit in a classroom to learn. Building a good rapport is essential to truly provide the best English course and helping the Kindergarteners progress throughout the semester. Since the students are so young and open to learning, talking only easy, simple words are beneficial to them at the moment. Do not go into further detail in the time being. The following essay is based on my personal experience of teaching one-to-one English lessons to young children (ages ranging from 5-14), through online platforms and companies. Engaging students through a virtual classroom presents challenges for teachers for several reasons. The first being that throughout the time of the lesson the child sees only the teacher and the given background. In other words, there are no sources of distraction or points of interest besides the teacher herself/himself and, as is known, it is especially important for young learners that the environment and the delivery of the lessons be as interesting and fun as possible. For online lessons, this becomes of paramount importance as the... [Read more]

Globalization and the increasing demand for English speaking professionals all over the world, especially in emerging regions, has brought about a new, steadily growing sector: English as a Second Language (ESL). An ESL teacher is, therefore, an educator who works with English Language Learners (ELLs) whose native language is not English. The goal of the ESL teacher is to help the students reach a certain level of fluency in English, on both a spoken and written level. ESL educators are not to be confused with foreign language teachers. ESL teachers do not share the same native language and are specifically trained to offer explanations and directed teaching methods to non-English speakers. This teaching style is mainly focused on repetition, drills, demonstrations, and... [Read more]
