TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Roman

Roman is a business communications trainer in Malaysia. Originally from the Philippines, he completed his 120-hour certificate course with ITTT as his first step towards starting a career in English language teaching. In this TEFL review Roman discusses how he found that he learned much more than he expected from the course, including information about classroom management, lesson planning and phonology. Roman also appreciated the great flexibility an online TEFL course provides meaning he was able to study while maintaining an active social life in his spare time.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

Selecting vocabulary that is appropriate to the students' needs could be challenging in a diverse group. Repeated use of a word in different sentence structures would help imprint both the word and its various uses. And developing an awareness of appropriate use , or otherwise, is important to avoid potential offence when the student trials their new vocabulary. This unit is based on theories, methods and techniques in teaching. A number of methodologies are identified and explained including the Jeremy Harmer approach called ESA (Engage, Study and Activate) which can be said to be effective. This methodology considerably includes student’s motivation, exposure to the language and an opportunity to use the language.
