Although I am a native english speaker and english is my mother tongue and I have grown up and lived in australia my whole life, I have learned a great deal about the english language which I had either forgotten or I never learned before. Grammar is an area which came naturally to me as a native english speaker but I didn't have much knowledge about all the grammatical terminologies, and while I was doing my schooling in australia we didn't learn to much grammar as we were all native english speakers. But thanks to this course it has giving me this knowledge. I have learned various teaching skills like how to make a lesson plan for different levels of students and how to go about teaching the students, how to get students interested and motivated in learning, the different formations of classes, a good variety of different activities that can be very helpful for students and many other teaching theories and skills that I will be able to implement in my career of teaching english, in which I think can be applied to all areas of expertise in the future and not just restricted to teaching english. Ultimately I am planning to travel to The Middle East and I would like to use these certificates to teach in this part of the world. I am interested to learn the Arabic language so this could give me an opportunity to help others learn english and I could also learn their language after class. My parents are actually from Turkey and I speak the Turkish language as well so I would also like to utilize this opportunity for teaching english over there. Ideally I will discover somewhere suitable and apply with any local language schools where I can settle in for an extended period of time before venturing further. Overall I feel that this course was very well structured and covered many areas which are necessary to enter a classroom with the confidence to begin teaching. G.S. usa I have gained a lot of knowledge on what it means to be a good teacher of english. I only hope that I can implement that knowledge. This course has gone over the methods and techniques needed to become a good teacher. Those methods of setting up the lessons and techniques in presenting them are very important, of course. But it would probably all be in vain if the teacher doesn't connect with the students. ESA plans and course book lessons are necessary as are evaluations and testing, but if the course is not lively and interesting a lot of student learning will never happen or will happen over a longer period of time. The danger of grammar learning is that the student will learn about the language rather than learn the language itself. And, as the course explains, it is very important that the teacher get the experience of teaching all different levels of esl students. And that might take a lot of time to develop. So I am just beginning and hoping to teach a class soon and hope that I will be able to put everything I've learned in this course into practice.
