The content of Unit 3 was more unfamiliar to me than that of Unit 2. I learnt that there are numerous approaches to the design of a syllabus which are to be used in different class settings. I learnt the numerous forms of assessment which can all be incorporated into the same group of students. I was unaware of the Association of Language Testers in Europe or the 'Can Do' Project. I like that this Unit had links to elaborate on the syllabus structure and a link which led to the 'Can Do' study. I would have never know about this study or the ALTE otherwise. The sample needs analysis was helpful as well for me to get an idea of what may be required by me as a teacher. I also learned the difference between norm referencing and criterion referencing which I had not thought of previously.
