I have gained much from this course. Being a native speak you already have knowledge of grammar but it’s a different thing to put the rules down on paper. This course has refreshed my understanding of many aspect of grammar. It also made me able to put my understanding on paper, so as to show others. Before it was all done so naturally it was almost impossible to access these rules for any educational purposes. I feel much more comfortable teaching others in english, whereas before, I was only comfortable in conversation.
This course also encouraged me to think as a teacher for the first time. Lesson planning is something all teachers use and I was guided through this process repeatedly. I am more confident in having a specific teaching goal for each day and then working to achieve that goal. This course introduced me not only on how to go about creating a lesson plan, but different and effective study and learning activities to engage the class with.
Lastly, I believe my understanding of student psychology has improved. Whether trying to control the class, disciplining, or creating a positive rapport, I feel more knowledgeable.
