I am not shy to admit that I am a beginner teacher. I have a degree in Fashion Merchandising and am currently a Buyer at an American company called Lane Bryant, which involves more retail math and less education! So needless to say I did not have the most knowledge about the actual act of teaching before this course. I have not only expanded my knowledge of the english language but I have also become much more comfortable with my capabilities in teaching it. Through out the course I tried to put myself in real life situations and found myself constantly reflecting back on my time as a student to the spanish language. It was very obvious that my teachers followed guidelines very similar to this course. With that said, I definitely plan to apply as many places as possible until I find the right teaching job for me. I know that I may not be the best teacher there is right now but I have always been a very fast learner and I am extremely enthusiastic about applying myself to this profession.
Without this course, I would not even know how to set up a lesson plan. In fact, I don't think I even truly knew what a lesson plan was, and absolutely did not know how to plan one myself. I figured that I would follow the guidelines set for my by the school that I'd hopefully be teaching in. But after this course I am much more excited to create my own agenda in the classroom! I now know how to follow a course guideline and still come up with my own lessons and activities. I cannot wait to see where this tefl certificate takes me.
