When I registered for this course I had no real idea of what it would entail. I have learned so much. It has been an amazing review of grammar (which I haven't done since high school in the early 70's). It has given me a new appreciation of just how complex the english language is. As a native speaker, I think one tends to forget that. One student told me that after reading english aloud for a long time his face actually hurt because of the different facial positions required to form the sounds! I was not sure that I would be able to teach, but in the past thirty-seven years that I have been working as a nurse I have been doing a lot of teaching as well, without even realizing it. I have also learned a lot about my computer...an unexpected bonus! I do not have any plans to earn my living by teaching english as a second language nor do I expect to be teaching in a foreign country...but one never knows what the future might hold. I will continue to volunteer teach in the class I have been attending for the past two years. Right now we have only three students, two from china and one from vietnam. It is very rewarding to see them progress and I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to do this. This course has helped me to be able to help them.
