I learned of the different methodologies for teaching english as a non-native language and that teachers can take the main teaching ideas from the different methods in order for the students to become successful in learning. A summary of the main ideas from the varying methods would be that students need exposure to the target language in a stress free environment and be encouraged to discover the language for themselves. Correction of language is also important and should be carefully done at the proper time. It is also important for teachers to recognize any language misuse patterns and distinguish between errors and mistakes.
