This course has helped me go back to the roots of the english language and review/remember many of the rules I had forgotten or never learned. Being a native english speaker majority of the time I do not think of the sentences I am creating as intricate, but after taking this course it has helped me think about the way I speak and how I can improve my enunciation, create more fluid sentences, and break down sentences in a grammatical sense. I have always known I wanted to teach and the various skills that this class has taught me will help me not only in tefl, but also in any teaching career I end up pursuing. Many of the ideas are engaging, thought out, and well rounded to keep the class motivated and learning. The overall structure of the class has helped me feel ready to take on the next task of actually teaching and even though there is no substitute for pure experience, this course has made me feel like I am prepared as possible. I plan to take what I have learned and go teach in either New Zealand, japan, or china depending on a few outside factors (fiancée, friends, family) and this course has helped me to be ready for anything. The well structured 20 unit course was a perfect fit for me because it gave me adequate time for completion, all the units flowed well together, and the course covered everything I would have hoped for in an online class.
