I have taught english for 3 years in italy. At first it wasn't easy for me and I had to study a lot of grammar and get accustomed with different course books and resource materials. I had to study everyday and prepare my lesson plans and still found myself struggling to provide an excellent lesson. Although my colleagues and director of the institute helped me with different kind of suggestions, I didn't know how to manage a classroom, react to different situation and deal with discipline problems if they may arise. After completing this course however, I have gained a great deal of confidence and learned about classroom management, lesson planning, choosing the right materials, the importance of visuals, what to do in specific situation, etc. This course was specifically helpful for lesson planning. I learned how to plan lessons for different level of students. I learned that lesson plans acts as written documents that can be used for future lessons year after year. The ESA methodologies are also very effective in conducting a class and it can be applied for all level of students. I also learned how to use games, educational technologies, authentic and non-authentic materials in the classroom to make a lesson varied. This course has also taught me how to measure student's progress and how to design assessment tests. In future, if I start teaching again, I believe this course will help me to be a more effective and organized teacher overall.
