TEFL Thornhill Kentucky

I have learned a great deal in the class and have enjoyed it very much. I have increased my knowledge of the english language, learned and practiced making lesson plans and also have grown as a public speaker and presenter by learning how to conduct a class to varying levels and ages of students. First, I have learned more english in this course than I ever learned in all my years of schooling. Much of it was a refresher on things that I have forgotten over the years but there were many new concepts (new to me) that I was never taught in school. My knowledge of the english language is greater than ever before. I have a new appreciation for why I say what I say and how I say it. Secondly, it has fueled my creativity by my having to produce numerous lesson plans for many different situations. This will assist me in my endeavor to teach english abroad. I have a clear understanding of the ESA system and will be able to reproduce the various forms of it (Straight arrow, Boomerang and Patchwork) as needed thanks to the amount of practice I was assigned throughout the course. This gives me the confidence to know that I can be successful as a teacher of a foreign language, which coming into the course was a worry for me. I didn't see how a 20 unit course could enable me to teach someone english when I didn't speak their language. Yet, it is possible and I now know that I can do it. Lastly, although I have been a public speaker for over 20 years and taught many classes in Church and Workgroups, I have never taught students in a classroom, especially ones that can't speak my language. There are always obstacles to overcome and challenges that need to be faced. This course has given me a good understanding of what these will be and provided guidance on how to handle them when they arise. From disciplining behavior issues to utilizing the overachievers, I will be able to tackle anything that comes my way. I have learned how to make classes fun and entertaining, be strict and relaxed, how students learn best at each stage and age and how to perform my best to help them be their best. This course is has been a joy for me and the one thing that I most gained over everything else is knowing that this is what I want. This course could have just as easily scared me away from wanting to teach, but it didn't. I'm ready. It has prepared me for my journey to thailand. It has made me ready for the challenges I will face from students and administrators. It has helped me move forward and made me more knowledgeable. For all of these reasons, I say thank you.
