It is the oldest brick fortification in Georgia still standing today and was used to shoot enemy vessels on the banks of Savannah River. Another exceptional historic building is the Old Governor’s Mansion. From 1839 to 1868, this masterpiece of Greek Revival architecture was home to several governors of the state and the location of several important events in US history.
