Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences I have been working in China for more than six months now and it’s been a very interesting time for me not just to learn more about the country and its people, but also to enrich my teaching skills and grow professionally as a teacher. This post was written by our TEFL certification graduate Evgeniya S. When I arrived in China, I hardly knew anything about specific features of teaching in that country, so I thought that the knowledge I had was quite enough to handle the classes in kindergarten or primary school. But since my first working day, I have often been surprised and even sometimes perplexed by what I have seen at kindergartens and schools in China. Many teaching techniques and methods that Chinese...  [Read more]

⏩ Tefl reviews - Borrow Vs Lend English Grammar Teaching Tips - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT

In this video Linda discusses the difference between two words that are often confused: "borrow" and "lend". Because the two words have similar meanings it makes it hard to identify the correct word, especially for non-native speakers. The difference is solely down to perspective. "Borrow" is a verb that means to receive something from someone with the expectation that you will return it to them. While "lend" is also a verb, it means to give something to someone with the expectation that they will give it back to you. Therefore, you need to make sure you use the right word depending on the perspective. Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas I have been teaching English to young learners in China for almost a year and I tried to make my lessons with and without flashcards. And I can say for sure, that it’s really hard to teach children (3-12 years old) if you don’t have prepared flashcards for your classes, but only an interactive whiteboard and some stuff to play games. This post was written by our TEFL certification graduate Kelly P. Please note that this blog post might not necessarily represent the beliefs or opinions of ITTT. ⏩ Tefl reviews - Overview Of All English Tenses Present Tenses Present Continuous Usages - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT

The two most common usages for the present continuous tense as it relates to speaking about things in the present. We have actions in progress at the time of speaking, specifically right when it's being said. So I can say ?I am teaching right now.? However, we also have actions in progress around the time of speaking. ?I'm reading a good book.? Now, of course I'm not reading a book just now but I started reading a book in the past I am reading it perhaps today sometime and I'll finish reading the book at some point in the future. Again, I'm not doing it just now but around the time of speaking. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences Before getting into teaching I had a good experience in the corporate sector. Training always had my interest, but never I thought that my first day would be so unpredictable. As I was a fresher in the training field, I could always relate with my students. I could just feel that if after having reasonable knowledge I could be nervous and unconfident, students can sure be. The day I am talking about was my first demo lecture for a group of students. As the students started entering the classroom, my mind was just running towards the unknown queries I may have to face. But, gradually I understood that to have an answer to all questions was a very wrong expectation to keep from oneself. The first day taught me...  [Read more]

Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences If someone would have asked me 10 years ago what would I do once I finished University, it would have never crossed my mind to tell them that I would become a teacher. The process of becoming a teacher started when I began to look for part-time jobs while I was studying the Language at Hanoi University. This post was written by our TEFL certification graduate Anay M. G. My English skills were poor, yet I had good basic knowledge of the language due to years and years of continuous study. Being non-native to the English language, I had to deal with learning English since primary school all the way until high-school. At that time, I didn’t appreciate very much the work of my teachers, I thought the English...  [Read more]

Linda Dunsmore Alumni Experiences What does it mean to volunteer? According to the Oxford Dictionary: "A volunteer is a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task", according to me, volunteering is a life-changing experience where you are able to help others. This post was written by our TEFL certification graduate Zayra R. I volunteered for the first time 7 years ago and I remember to be very excited and a little nervous, not knowing what to expect. Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences Over the past two years, as part of an international community, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world. This post was written by our TEFL certification graduate Janis U. Please note that this blog post might not necessarily represent the beliefs or opinions of ITTT. Most people I’ve “interviewed” have either learned an L2 over many years or are still in the process of learning it. Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas Completing a TEFL course is useful in many ways. Firstly, it is useful to complete a TEFL course because of the knowledge it provides. Before starting this course I had an English background, but I wasn’t aware of all the grammatical points I was missing out on. This course has made me think and taught me some very new ideas that I had not previously known before. Aside from grammar, I had picked up some very useful communication skills and problem-solving skills. When in a classroom I learned how to keep people engaged and active. A very useful technique is the ESA technique. That stands for engaging, study, activate. In this technique, you can use the straight-arrow method, boomerang method or the patchwork...  [Read more]

⏩ Tefl reviews - English Grammar Present Simple Usage Online Tesol Course - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT

http://www.teflonline.net This video outlines two usages of the Present Simple tense. There are several usages but the video focuses on the two main ones. The first usage is to talk about habits and routines. For example, I teach every Monday. She walks to school every day. It rains almost every day in the wet season. His mother does yoga twice a week. The second main usage of the Present Simple is to talk about general facts and truths. For example, The sun rises in the east. The earth is round. She works at the local mall. Coming to terms with the tense system can often cause both students and teachers the greatest amount of difficulty, not to mention other grammar points such as conditionals, modals, active and passive voice.
