In this course I have personally gained a lot of insight into everything a teacher must know and put into practice to effectively teach the english language. Through all the lessons in grammar I remembered much of what I learned in school, which is definitely necessary to study and master to confidently show others. If a teacher is not sure of certain english skills it could become noticeable to students and effect their motivation, since there could be doubt as to the teachers own knowledge of the language. I would definitely continue to review parts of speech and grammar to become more confident in this area of study.
The units on what makes a good teacher and classroom management are definitely a great help to organize and maximize classroom effectiveness. I would remember to use eye contact, gestures and the correct tone of voice. Arranging the classroom appropriately and grouping students would be important depending on the different activities.
My favorite part of the course has been efl methodology and planning lessons. The method of engaging students followed by a study phase and activate phase (or any other order: Straight Arrow, Boomerang or Patchwork) is a great motivating tool for students to want to learn and be excited about learning the language. I will definitely be using this method which I find very useful.
