I am thrilled to have done this course. In addition to everything I have learned I also found it motivating, challenging and inspirational. I have gained confidence and the tools needed to be a better teacher and have become someone who is equipped and prepared to help others learn english! I have always had a good understanding of the english language. My mother was a teacher of both english and esl in the united states and instilled in me an appreciation for the language and its proper use. It is remarkable how much grammatical information one looses after moving on from grammar school and whats more, how much I feel I never learned to begin with! I have spoken to many friends and colleagues and they too have retained little or feel also that they were never properly educated beyond noun, verb, adjective. Upon completion of this course I now feel that I've been given an extensive and thorough grounding in grammar, forms of speech and tenses that I feel I never truly had prior! The course has given me a tool box of skills needed to understand the theories behind, principles of and methods to effectively pass on the information to my future students. The information was clearly written, the units were challenging and sometimes even fun. I feel well prepared and that I have an arsenal of teaching material and a 'team' behind me in the course book that I can continually refer back to if needed. I currently live with my husband in Como, italy. I am an artist and have, throughout my career, found additional work teaching. In the united states I taught at a Montessori school working with children ages 3 to 12. Now, living abroad, I found there is always a need for teachers of efl. I heard the call and felt it would be a good fit. After taking on a couple of students privately, I quickly understood that in order to be a better teacher I wanted to take a course to brush up my own english. I also knew that there would be more work available in schools that require that a certified tefl instructor. It was an obvious necessity that I take the online course and obtain the certification. I now feel accomplished, better informed and well prepared to take on future students and I am excited to discover the possibilities that await. Teaching english comes naturally to me, I enjoy working with people and love seeing them improve. I feel fortunate to be a native english speaker in a world where english is only becoming stronger as the common language. The desire to learn it is great and the requirement of it in the world of business is undeniable. I have gained the ability now to work virtually anywhere in the world and have the certification to do so professionally and to the best of my abilities. I know this was an effort well worth it and I’m eager to put it to work. Thank you Jon for your support and for working with me over the months. It has been very motivational knowing you are waiting to receive my next unit; it always pushed me to get working, knowing there was someone keeping tabs on me!
