What I have learned is a lot. More than what the tutor wants to read. The key things would have to be how to organize my lesson plans, critically think about how I am going to teach, and how complicated the english language truly is. I know this course is simple course, comparatively, but it has really opened my eyes as to how little I knew. When I considered teaching english in another country I thought, “I go to a class, talk in english, students learn, and everybody is happy.” Then as I pursued this study and was having a hard time with some subjects, it occurred to me how unprepared I was to teach. It scares me now to think that I almost jumped into teaching with having no training or education what so ever. I do want to add another point. I had a friend that taught english in china. He had no education other than a four year college degree. I discovered he struggled with teaching. He wished he had some kind of education, or even a course like this, that helped him teach with the basics. Essentially, I am avoiding his mistake. Now, how I plan on putting this course into action is I do have a job lined up in South Korea. They wanted me to get this course done so I can be a better asset to them. So, most likely, as of next week I will be using everything I have learned. I most likely will get more details of what is expected of me. I also know I will be working with another teacher. The most helpful part of this course for me, as far as I can tell, will be the Engage, Study, and Activate part. I helped teach english at a camp for a week in the czech Republic. Looking back, if we applied this approach, then the students would have had a lot more fun and not seemed so lost.
