This course has helped me to see that there are many facets to teaching english. I can see that to be an effective teacher I must not only encompass the correct grammar of english, but also reading, writing, and listening skills. As I have been going through the class it has made me more aware of the importance of all of these skills. I have a friend whose original language is Persian and we communicate freely on a regular basis. However, one day she sent me a text that I could barely understand, as her writing skills have never been developed. This impressed on me the importance of not only teaching students to speak the language but also to be able to read and write it effectively. I have personally enjoyed using games as a great educational tool, but this course has helped me to see how games and activities can really help students grasp new concepts and have fun while learning english. I am currently a volunteer in a Bible educational work. My goal is to move to Panama with my husband where we might extend our volunteer service. In order to do this we must have a way to support ourselves financially. Our goal is to be able to teach english, either in a classroom or possibly start teaching online as soon as possible and become established before ever moving to Panama.
