California | TEFL Usa

California is probably the most famous state of them all due to the many Hollywood movies set here. Endless beaches, great surfing and a warm climate also make California a premier vacation destination. The Gold Rush of the 19th century first brought California a huge economic boom and an iconic wave of immigration. Still today, the state is among the most diverse in the country with a population of many different backgrounds and ethnicities. California is also the most populous state in the country and one of the largest as it covers three quarters of the entire West Coast.

In the south, just 30 minutes from the Mexican border, lies San Diego. The city has a warm climate throughout the year and is often called ‘America’s Finest City’. San Diego offers splendid entertainment, outdoor activities and culinary options. You will also find over 70 miles of sandy beaches where you can soak up the sun or try surfing. Rocky cliffs, tide pools and coral reefs make San Diego’s beaches a water sport paradise. The best beaches include Mission Beach, Coronado Beach, La Jolla Shores and Pacific Beach.

Driving 2 hours north, you will see the iconic skyline of Los Angeles and maybe even the Hollywood sign in the distance. L.A. is without a doubt California’s most famous city and it is filled with state-of-the-art attractions. From the Walt Disney Music Hall and Universal Studios, to the glitz and glamour of Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, this city is like no other. Take a tour and see the homes of some of the most famous celebrities in the world, or climb the Hollywood Hills to get the best shot of the famous sign. Los Angeles also has a vibrant nightlife and is home to some of the best restaurants in the country.

The Santa Ynez Valley is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Situated north of Santa Barbara, this region features some of the best vineyards in the country. The favorable climate makes for the ideal location to produce high-quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Visitors come here to sample the best wines and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding country. The area also has relaxing spa resorts where you can spend a weekend in paradise.

California’s north is home to the state’s second most famous city: San Francisco. Take a bike ride across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and visit Golden Gate Parks’ many museums. Fisherman’s Wharf is the perfect spot to sample fresh seafood while watching the famous sea lions sunbathing on the rocks. Take a ride on the iconic cable cars riding up and down the many hills that create the unique scenery of the city. Visiting San Francisco will leave you with unforgettable memories.

California is not only an exceptional tourist destination with abundant natural landscapes and iconic cities, but also a major education center. Universities such as UCLA, Stanford, and Berkeley offer some of the best programs to students from all over the world. This unique atmosphere is another reason why California is a great venue for completing our in-class TEFL/TESOL program.
